The Cyprus St John Association and Brigade was first established in 1926 and since then is consistently striving to achieve its noble cause, i.e. to train First Aiders and to provide qualified personnel for day-care services at home for both adults and children. It is a charity institution and has been registered so in 1975 after a decision by the Council of Ministers.

The paramount aims of the Association are to enhance social welfare at large and to alleviate human discomfort, suffering, illness or danger; in doing so no discrimination is accommodated with regard to sex, race, colour, social status, faith or belief. Training of Fist Aiders constitute the main activity through which the objectives of the Association are achieved.

Training Programmes

Since 1926, St John Cyprus has been offering training in first aid at the maximum possible qualitative level and at the same time at the lowest cost. All their training programmes, meet fully the guidelines set by the Labour Inspectorate Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance and the European Resuscitation Council.

First Aid at Events

The Brigade, by being a voluntary body, offers first aid services to events in which the public participates either as provider of services or as an attendee; such events were the visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI and the organization of the Athletic Games of the Small Countries of Europe.

During these events, the Uniformed Volunteers Body offered first aid to the individuals that were in need of whilst attending the services that took place during the Pope’s visit in Paphos and Nicosia and the Athletic Games; these services were offered at no cost; special first aid kids have been prepared for both the occasions.
