The Right Reverend Timothy Stevens, Prelate of the Order of St John, and Professor Mark Compton, Chancellor of the Order of St John Australia and Chairman of the National Board of Directors of St John Ambulance Australia, travelled to Africa to learn more about St John’s work in Malawi and Zambia.

In 2014, the St John Mother and Baby Programme was launched in Malawi and Zambia.

As part of the Commonwealth Day celebration in March, The Order of St John Grand Prior, HRH Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester visited St John in Malawi to see their projects to improve health of the communities, including the Mother and Baby Programme.

On 29 May, the newly appointed Governor General, Dame Sandra Mason became the patron of St John Barbados in a short ceremony at Government House.

On Monday 23 April, a van plowed into innocent victims walking along the public streets in Toronto, Canada, killing 10 people and injuring another 14 people.

Starting the year with some good news as the St John Mother and Baby Programme running in sub Saharan Africa has received two new grants.

The St John Ambulance Brigade in Hong Kong held a gala dinner on 15 October at Hong Kong InterContinental Hotel. Over 110 St John personnel attended including the new Prior of Priory of Hong Kong, Dr Chung Chin-Hung; and with the Lord Prior Sir Malcolm Ross and his wife Lady Suzie Ross as honoured guests.

At the end of November, St John Guyana received a portable defibrillator when Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta, Viscount Roland de Rosiere visited.
