This 'Restart a Heart Day' St John establishments around the world helped to raise awareness about cardiac arrest and taught critical CPR skills.

It only takes a few minutes to learn the simple steps to take when someone is in cardiac arrest, but it could mean the difference between life and death.

Read below to learn what St John establishments around the world did to help train people in CPR this Restart A Heart Day.

  • St John Ambulance Australia continues to share photos of some of their AEDs in stunning locations for World Restart a Heart Day; check out their Facebook page for more! If you think your local town has a defib somewhere pretty special, send your best defib photos to [email protected] with the name of the location and state or territory.
  • St John Guernsey held sessions for everyone to learn life-saving CPR and AED skills at Waitrose, Admiral Park, from 4 pm to 6 pm. 
  • St John Ambulance Gibraltar held CPR classes at Casemates + Tercentenary Sports Hall to help raise awareness about cardiac arrest and help people learn CPR, giving them lifesaving skills and the confidence to use them.

  • Hato Hone St John teamed up with Heart Foundation NZ and Heart Kids New Zealand to encourage as many people as possible to learn CPR and how to save a life. The Sky Tower in Auckland was lit and pulsed like a heartbeat.

  • St John Ambulance ran sessions up and down the country as part of Restart a Heart Day. Their new “Phone, Push, Press” message, which references the three key steps needed to get help, start CPR, and use a defibrillator to give someone the best chance of survival, was taught to all participants. 

  • St John Ambulance Mauritius held CPR classes on Sunday 15 October, volunteers visited five shopping centres across the country to show bystanders basic life support skills.
