Today, the President of the Republic of Fiji, H.E. Ratu Wiliame Maivalili Katonivere, visited St John International in London. Secretary General Susan le Jeune d’Allegeershecque welcomed the President, together with the Fijian First Lady and the High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Jitoko Tikolevu at our offices.

The President and his delegation took a keen interest in St John’s global work and our new strategy. His Excellency stressed the importance of the partnership between St John Fiji and his Government, in particular during the Covid pandemic. St John Fiji was tasked to transport Covid patients to the local hospitals, which saved many lives.

The President also talked about the opportunity to identify areas to expand the reach and impact of St John across the 300 islands which make up the country. Our Secretary General thanked His Excellency for his public support for St John and its work.

After the short meeting, the President visited the Museum of St John, where he was welcomed by St John England’s Chancellor Michael Messinger and Director of International Affairs Sarah Duthie.
