Continuing our International Women’s Day campaign this week, today we are celebrating Charlie from St John Ambulance Australia, a dedicated leader whose innovation, service and commitment have made a lasting impact. For more than a decade, Charlie has been an integral part of St John, consistently demonstrating outstanding leadership and a deep commitment to service, and in recognition of her significant contribution she was invested as a Member of the Order in 2024, a well deserved honour reflecting the impact of her work across the organisation.
One of Charlie’s standout achievements has been her leadership in developing the award winning, evidence based Learner Driver First Aid (LDFA) training course. This innovative program equips new drivers with practical, life saving skills at a pivotal moment in their driving journey. By embedding first aid education at this critical stage, Charlie has helped strengthen community preparedness and empowered young people to respond confidently in emergency situations.
Beyond her formal responsibilities, Charlie generously shares her multimedia and photography expertise to support St John events, members and initiatives across the network. Time and again, she goes above and beyond, capturing moments that celebrate service, recognise volunteers and showcase the spirit of community that defines St John.
Her commitment to service extends even further. Charlie also serves as a Reservist in the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps, reflecting her dedication not only to St John but to serving the broader community and nation.

Currently on maternity leave, Charlie celebrated a special personal milestone last year. She and her partner welcomed their daughters within weeks of each other, and together they are raising two young girls while balancing family life with a shared commitment to service.
Charlie’s story is one of leadership, innovation and heart. From developing award winning first aid programs to serving as an Army Reservist, she exemplifies leadership in action while balancing family life and community service. This International Women’s Day, we recognise and celebrate her inspiring contribution and the powerful example she sets for women across St John Ambulance Australia and the wider community.
