Trudy was a Gisborne Youth Member from 2004 to 2008 before becoming an Events Volunteer, LifeLink Rep and Ambulance Officer in the area till 2013.

Moving to various roles in the North Island she continued as an Ambulance Officer and then Paramedic from 2020. She has volunteered on an Area Committee, as a Volunteer Support Manager and from 2024 and been the National Operations Manager for Ambulance Volunteers.

Trudy has achieved a lot for the Hato Hone St John teams on the isolated East Coast. She has put her life and soul into building up volunteer teams and getting the Te Kaha First Response Unit operational again, going from no volunteers to a strong and dedicated team of 12.

Trudy has built up key relationships with Iwi and put in some very strong groundwork towards improving health equity for people on the East Coast. She became a qualified paramedic at the end of 2012 and is fully dedicated to supporting operational volunteers throughout the country.
