  2. Our new Global Strategy

Our new global strategy

We are taking St John into an exciting future. For the first time, we develop and roll out a global strategy at an operational level that brings together all our Establishments with a shared set of values, vision and mission, centred around first aid and medical responses to community healthcare needs. Our goal is ambitious: We will make our organisation a world leader in First Aid and medical responses to community healthcare needs.

This does not at all exclude all the other major positive contributions St John people make to the global community, but it gives us a focus that helps the Order develop a stronger and more visible place in the global healthcare community.

To achieve this, we all have to work together. Every part of St John has an important role to play – from the smallest Commandery and Association to the biggest Priory, from a volunteer in a remote village to staff, members and Great Officers. Only a collaborative effort will bring our strategy to life.

Whilst the Relationship Charter has already been signed by all Priories, we will now include our Associations in the strategy development through the newly established regions, and we will work with them on what support they need, but also how they can contribute.

We now have the chance to make our St John the organisation we want it to be – let’s do it together.

Watch Prof Mark Compton, Lord Prior of The Order of St John, introducing the evolving new global strategy in a video message to all St John people.

This page will provide an overview of the global strategy process and what we are aiming to do. Please watch out for more information from your dedicated region, come back frequently and check for updates, and engage with your regional lead, who will answer questions you might have, and to offer your support for our new strategy.
